Lackford Lakes burglaries near Bury St Edmunds target storage buildings used by sailing clubs, sea cadets and scouts




An inflatable kayak and a kayak trailer used for club activities are among items stolen in a series of burglaries at Lackford Lakes.

Suffolk police are appealing for witnesses or information after several burglaries were reported at the lakes at Lackford, near Bury St Edmunds.

The incidents happened between Friday, December 2, and Tuesday, December 6, although it is believed they have probably happened overnight of Monday, December 5, into the morning of December 6.

At the lake there are various buildings belonging to sailing clubs, sea cadets and scouts and these storage premises have been broken into and a number of items stolen including:

  • 20 yellow Motorola radios;
  • an inflatable kayak;
  • hand tools including screwdrivers and a drill;
  • sets of keys;
  • and a kayak trailer.

Anybody who saw any suspicious activity, knows who was responsible or knows the whereabouts of the items stolen should contact Suffolk Police quoting reference 37/77662/22.
