Bury St Edmunds Moreton Hall stabbing: Inquest into death of Neil Charles suspended

The inquest into the death of a man who suffered a single stab wound to his chest in a Bury St Edmunds street last year has been suspended.

Neil Charles was found in the early hours of the morning on June 20, 2021, outside a house in Winsford Road, on the town's Moreton Hall estate.

The 47-year-old was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge but died two days later.

At Suffolk Coroner's Court in Ipswich today, senior coroner Nigel Parsley agreed to suspend the inquest until July 29 this year.

Court officer Paul Sermon read a suspension statement which said: "The circumstances of Mr Charles' death are currently part of a police investigation."

David King, 55, and Edward King, 19 - of Radnor Close, Bury St Edmunds - have been charged with murder and manslaughter in connection with the death of Mr Charles.

The trial of the pair is set to resume on April 19.
