A special needs teacher with experience of 900 parachute jumps died after he was seriously injured during a jump, an inquest has heard.

James Brooke, 26, who worked at Riverwalk School, in Chevington Close, Bury St Edmunds, had been filming a tandem jump at Beccles Airfield on May 13 when he hit the ground heavily.

An inquest into his death was formally opened on Monday at Suffolk Coroners Court, Ipswich.

It heard Mr Brookes, who lived with his girlfriend in Chedburgh, was taken to the James Paget Hospital at Gorleston but died from his injuries on May 19.

Assistant Suffolk Coroner Dr Daniel Sharpstone adjourned the inquest to allow time for the completion of enquiries.
