Police continue investigation into serious crash at Moreton Hall Fish and Kebab in Bury St Edmunds
Police are continuing an investigation after a car crashed into a takeaway and seriously injured three pedestrians.
A blue BMW ploughed into Moreton Hall Fish and Kebab in Tallou Court, Bury St Edmunds, on Saturday at around 5.30pm.
Six people were assessed at the scene and four people were taken to hospital for their injuries.
Three pedestrians remain in hospital with two suffering potentially life-changing injuries and the third in a serious but stable condition.
The BMW driver also suffered minor injuries and was released from hospital.
Today, a spokesperson for Suffolk Police said: “An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the collision.”
A fund-raiser was launched for Moreton Hall Fish and Kebab to help the shop cover its loss of earnings and to show the community’s support for those affected.
The campaign has raised £1,270 so far and you can click here to donate.
The shop has been boarded up and West Suffolk Cllr Birgitte Mager previously said the council needs to find a solution to avoid these type of incidents happening again.
On Sunday, she said: “I am absolutely devastated on behalf of the people involved in the incident.
“This is a core business in Moreton Hall and it is a little bit like when we had an incident at the Tesco Express years ago.
“We urgently need to look into getting some bollards in front of these shops so accidents like this cannot happen again.”
Suffolk Police is looking for any witnesses of the incident to get in touch quoting the reference 37/42382/24.
