West Suffolk College students of Conservatoire EAST to stage The Wind in the Willows this week in Bury St Edmunds
A college is hoping to trump previous sell-out shows they have created with their new production of The Wind in the Willows.
Created by Conservatoire EAST, the acting academy based at West Suffolk College, a cast of talented actors will be bringing Mike Kenny’s version of Kenneth Grahame’s classic to life between May 3 and 6, 2023.
The director Erica Dupuy, course director for performing arts, said: “This reimagining takes place in Toad Hall in the future where the inhabitants of the Riverbank and the Wild Wood regale the audience with stories from their past.
“It’s a play with music in it and it’s very sweet and innocent. Most people you talk to remember The Wind in the Willows. I think kids will love it and it will give adults a chance to relive their childhoods. It’s a show to take you away from your everyday worries.”
Abbie Good, 16, from Exning, said: “Playing Toad is challenging but so much fun. It’s a great ensemble piece and I think people are going to love it.”
Natasha Ambrose, 18, from Sudbury, said: “Playing Mole is great as I’ve not really done anything like this before. It’s been brilliant bringing such an iconic character to life.”
The Wind in the Willows runs from tomorrow until Saturday at 7.30pm at West Suffolk College in Out Risbygate, Bury St Edmunds. There is also a matinee at 2.30pm on Saturday.
