Bury St Edmunds Rickshaw celebrated in new book to be launched at arc Shopping Centre, Charter Square




A new book celebrating the work of a popular town service will be launched this weekend.

Ride The Rickshaw will be launched at the arc Shopping Centre’s Charter Square, on Sunday.

The book celebrates the work of Bury St Edmunds Rickshaw which offers ‘joy-rides’ to help people get out and about.

It also works with a number of town charities to distribute food and essential supplies to those in need.

Ride the Rickshaw (A Bury Good Story) is designed to educate children and spark their enthusiasm for helping the community.

Proceeds from sales go will also go to the Rickshaw charity itself, which runs the service.

Allan Hassell, arc centre manager, said: “We are thrilled to announce the arrival of this educational and exciting book.

“It has been incredible working with the Bury St Edmunds Rickshaw and we are delighted to launch this book celebrating their work.”

arc Shopping Centre has worked with author and illustrator, Chris Dixon, to create the book, which also contains colourful illustrations.

It is being launched as part of a series of workshops the arc centre has been running called Bury Beautiful World.

Author Chris Dixon will be attending the Reading and Rickshaws workshop, when he will be reading from the book and signing copies.

It tells the story of the Rickshaw as it travels around town visiting prominent landmarks, including St Edmundsbury Cathedral and Moyse’s Hall.

Allan added: “We think it is something younger readers will love.

“We hope this marvellous book will not only bring excitement to children, but also raise much needed funds for this incredible charity.”

The workshop will be held between 11am - 3pm, Afterwards, the book will be available exclusively at the Waterstone’s store in the arc.

Copies cost £5.
