Family fun day at rugby club in Bury St Edmunds raises just under £130

A family fun day at the rugby club in Bury St Edmunds saw more than 100 people take part in activities while raising money for charity.

The event on Saturday was organised by the Bury Rugby Minis section with a bouncy assault course, an ice cream van, a bar and a barbecue as well as a friendly touch rugby match for adults.

The event raised just under £130 for St Nicholas Hospice Care and a memorial cycle ride to mark the 50th anniversary since members of the club were tragically killed in 1974 in a plane crash.

Organiser Lara Chuter said: “It was a great day and we were really happy to see so many people there.

“The touch match was a particular highlight and it was wonderful to see everyone having fun.”

The event was open to members and non-members and families were invited to bring their own garden games and picnic blankets.
