Bury St Edmunds Slimming World leader Susan McGregor retrains as a wedding celebrant
A mum-of-two has switched career from celebrating weight loss, to celebrating marriage.
After five years running three successful local Slimming World groups, Susan McGregor, from Moreton Hall, Bury St Edmunds, has retrained as a wedding celebrant.
Susan has helped hundreds of women lose weight at her groups at Southgate and Westbury community centres over the years.
But now she plans to deliver unique ceremonies for couples to make their marriage memorable.
Susan said: “It was sad to say goodbye to the slimming groups and my time as leader has been been a blast.
"It was after I did a reading at my son’s wedding that I realised how much I would love helping couples’ special day go beautifully. So I trained as an independent celebrant."
Susan is now a certified celebrant with the Academy of Modern Celebrancy.
Couples still have to make their marriage legal at a registry office, which they can do any time beforehand, but then can have a special ceremony with a celebrant, and family and friends.
Susan said: “Spending time with a couple, writing their bespoke ceremony, including any symbolic elements they may want, personalised vows, their own love story and bringing together their families and friends too, makes for a fabulous ceremony.
“Couples can also have their celebrant-led wedding anywhere: at their venue, their back garden, a favourite beauty spot or even at the beach."

She added: “It’s the perfect fit for me, as I’m used to being an encouraging presence at the front of the room after my fantastic years as a slimming consultant.
"One member has already booked me for her wedding later this year.
"I’m so excited that I can be a part of that.”
