A Thetford man who had part of his right leg amputated following a road accident is getting ready for a tough muddy challenge.

Jordan Greenwood, 25, will be taking on the East Anglian Air Ambulance’s (EAAA) Only The Brave obstacle course in Elveden Estate, on April 7.

He said: “They (the EAAA) asked me to be a representative for Only the Brave and that is when I thought, actually I wanted to give it a crack.

“The way I see it is that it will be my biggest challenge since I lost my leg.”

Jordan had part of his leg amputated in May 2017 after a collision with a car while riding his scooter at the entrance of the Garden Centre on Kilverstone Road.

The crew of the EAAA’s Anglia One air ambulance attended the scene that day and took Jordan to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Jordan got the chance to visit two of the crew that helped him, captain Steve Norris and Doctor Victor Inyang, at the air ambulance’s headquarters last year.

He said: “They were shocked to see me, as they said they don’t meet many ex-patients.

“For me it was a bit overwhelming, I obviously remember them at the accident and if it wasn’t for them it could have been a whole different story for me.”

Jordan will be taking on the six-mile course, with more than 20 obstacles including lots of mud, slides, straw bales and challenging hurdles, with his friend, Joe Crowe.

Jordan said: “I am doing it because I want to show people that when something bad like this has happened to them, good things can come out of it.”

The Only The Brave event will take place at Elveden Estate on Sunday, April 7.
