The A14 will be closed tonight (Saturday, November 23) from 8pm between Bury St Edmunds central and Newmarket, according to a council update.
West Suffolk Council posted a tweet at around 4pm to notify that Highways England would be carrying out works ‘without consultation’.
The tweet added: “They’re unable to delay until later, despite our requests.”
The move has potential to impact attendees returning from the Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre.
The council said a diversion will be in place for the park and ride scheme.
Highways England has been contacted for a response
The road reopened before this morning (Sunday, November 24).
