Latest Suffolk coronavirus figures show 1,506 new cases in the county last week

The latest coronavirus data in Suffolk shows the county-wide rate of new weekly cases has decreased since the week previous.

In the week leading up to July 28, case numbers were 240.9 per 100,000 people.

There were 1,506 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of lab confirmed cases to 36,774.

This is the lowest overall Covid case rate in the East of England, which is currently at 348.2 per 100,000 people, and below England as a whole, which is at 401.4 per 100,000 people.

While case numbers in Babergh, East Suffolk and Ipswich have decreased since the previous week, cases have risen in Mid and West Suffolk.

At West Suffolk Hospital, between July 19 and July 25, nine people were admitted with coronavirus.

As of Tuesday there were no patients in hospital who needed to use a ventilator to help them breathe.

At the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust - which includes Ipswich Hospital as well as Colchester Hospital over the county border - 50 people were admitted with the virus.

On Tuesday, 41 people were in their care and four of those needed a ventilator.
