Latest Covid statistics show rise in all five Suffolk districts as the weekly case rate remains higher than the East of England and England as a whole

Coronavirus cases are on the rise in Suffolk, with 4,156 new cases recorded in the week leading up to October 20.

According to Suffolk County Council data, the rate of new weekly cases in the county now sits at 569.1 cases per 100,000 people, up on the previous week's figure of 464.7.

This is above the rates for the East of England region, 475.8 per 100,000 people, and for England as a whole, 447.9 per 100,000 people.

This weeks figures are an increase of 206 on the previous week's figure of 3,950.

In total, up to 8 October, there have been 1,636 deaths in Suffolk where Covid-19 was recorded on the death certificate. There have been 5 Covid related deaths in the last week.

In the week ending October 20, there have been 459 cases in Babergh, 1,083 cases in East Suffolk, 1,086 cases in Ipswich, 577 cases in Mid Suffolk and 951 cases in West Suffolk.
