Suffolk Fire attend straw bale blaze in Lawshall, near Bury St Edmunds




Five-hundred tonnes of straw bales were set alight in Lawshall in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday, September 3).

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service dispatched three appliances from Sudbury, Long Melford and Clare to the incident on Bury Road.

The call was received at 1.43am and firefighters are still in attendance.

A spokesman from the service said: "Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service have been in attendance since arrival and are supervising the fire allowing it to burn out and to stopping any spread."
