“The White Horse has been such a big part of mine and Barry’s life, and it means so much to be recognised for the connection we’ve built with the community,” she said. “It’s something we will truly treasure.”

Dan Robinson, managing director of Greene King Pub Partners, said it was a real honour to present the award to Jane.

“The Lifetime Achievement award is truly fitting for someone who has dedicated so much to the community she serves through her pub,” he said.

Operated by Chris Harber and Gabrielle Morek, The Crown Hotel has spent the last decade taking efforts to become a more sustainable business.

As both a pub and hotel, they’ve prioritised initiatives such as installing energy-efficient lighting, insulation and secondary glazing, as well as wrapping the pub’s pipework to reduce heat loss.

The Crown Hotel’s cellar manager system also controls its cellar cooling equipment based on demand, reducing its electricity consumption.

Chris and Gabrielle said they were over the moon with the accolade.

“We pride ourselves on supporting local charitable causes, and alongside this have worked diligently to try and reduce our environmental footprint,” they said.

“It’s therefore a real privilege to win this award.”
