Bury St Edmunds Nostalgia - South Suffolk Show on Hardwick Heath spoiled by bad weather




In today's nostalgia we transport back to 1962 when the South Suffolk Show was spoiled by 'dismal' weather.

Even judging by the weather standards of this season's disastrous spring, South Suffolk Agricultural Society could hardly have had a worse day for their annual show in Bury St Edmunds.

Although the sun was shining at this year's show, it was a different story 60 years ago as frequent showers and cold weather made the beautiful, tree-fringed setting of Hardwick Heath look drab and dismal.

The committee were very disappointed for they had been working to make the show one of the premier East Anglian agricultural events.

This year's South Suffolk Show did not disappoint as 'record crowds' flocked to enjoy the day, particularly Atkinson Action Horses in the main ring

Despite the weather, about 1,500 people ventured out and enjoyed the large number of exciting show jumping events in the main ring.
