Glasswells in Bury St Edmunds flooded after heavy rainfall





A major Bury St Edmunds store has been flooded following heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.

Glasswells has announced that parts of its shop in Newmarket Road was flooded.

A spokesman said: "We are working hard to clear the water."

The restaurant will open as normal at 10am, with entrance via the patio door.

They hope to be able to open the shop by 11am.

The spokesman added: "Please watch our socials for updates."

Glasswells was last hit by major flooding in 2020.

Firefighters were called to multiple incidents of flooding in Bury St Edmunds this morning.

Residents on the Howard estate have also been clearing flood water.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to incidents in St Andrew's Street North, Northgate Street, Bedingfeld Way, Risbygate Street (A1302), Bury Park Drive, Southgate Street (Westgate Street) and Springfield Road in Bury St Edmunds.
