Sinan Mehmedov admits attempting to rape woman in Bury St Edmunds' Cullum Road

A 19-year-old man has admitted attempting to rape a woman in Bury St Edmunds.

Sinan Mehmedov, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty today (Friday) at Ipswich Crown Court.

Judge Rupert Overbury told Mehmedov that he will continue to be remanded in custody until he returns to the same court to be sentenced on October 25.

Mehmedov has admitted attempting to rape a 25-year-old woman in Cullum Road during the early hours of June 3.

The woman, who had been walking home from the town centre, was pushed into bushes where Mehmedov attempted to rape her.

The attack was between 4am and 4.15am.

Mehmedov was arrested in Chelmsford on September 19.
