Man brandished meat cleaver and exposed himself in Bury St Edmunds Risbygate Street and School Yard, police have confirmed

A man is reported to have brandished a meat cleaver and exposed himself in Bury St Edmunds town centre, prompting police to launch an appeal.

The man allegedly threatened another man and a woman whilst holding the meat cleaver. He then exposed himself.

The incident occurred between 4.30pm and 4.40pm on Monday November 29 near Risbygate Street and School Yard.

Officers arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

The suspect was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning and was later further arrested on suspicion of affray and exposure. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Police are now appealing for members of public in the area at the time to come forward with information.
