An inquest has heard how people tried to save a man head-down in a drain.
Suffolk Coroner's Court heard on Monday how Lee Carnegie, 49, was found trapped in a drain outside his home in Linnet Road, Bury St Edmunds on May 9.
Members of the public pulled him out but he was declared dead at the scene.
Assistant Suffolk Coroner Dr Daniel Sharpstone said the cause of death was given as aspiration of foreign contents and inverted entrapment in the drain.
The inquest was formally opened and adjourned for inquiries to be completed.
