Man dies after being found in Thetford river




A man has died in hospital after being found in a Thetford river yesterday afternoon.

Norfolk Police, ambulance and air ambulance services were seen by the river in Bridge Street at 2.40pm.

The police have now confirmed they found a man in the water after a member of the public reported seeing him in the Little Ouse River.

Emergency services attended and rescued the man from the water, giving CPR at the scene before he was taken to West Suffolk Hospital.

Despite their efforts the man, believed to be in his 40s, died earlier this morning.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained and a post mortem examination will be held in due course.

As a result of previous police contact, the matter has been referred to the constabulary’s Professional Standards Department.
