Man, in 80s, dies in crash involving two cars in Rickinghall




A man has died after a crash between two cars in Rickinghall.

Police were called shortly after 10.05am to a collision involving a black Ford Focus and a grey Toyota Corolla at the junction of the A143 and B1113 Finningham Road.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, an ambulance and air ambulance also attended and despite the efforts by a member of public and paramedics, the driver of the Toyota Corrolla – a man in his 80s – was pronounced dead a short time later at the scene.

The driver of the Ford Focus, a man in his 50s, suffered minor injuries and was taken to West Suffolk Hospital.

Road closures were put in place for an investigation and were lifted at about 4pm.

Officers want to hear from anyone who witnessed the manner of driving of the vehicles involved shortly before the incident.

Any witnesses, or anyone driving along the road immediately before the collision with a dash-cam, are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference CAD 77 of April 29.
