Man taken to West Suffolk Hospital after van fire in Ram Meadow car park, in Bury St Edmunds, where two dogs found dead
A man was taken to hospital after a van fire in a town car park last night where two dogs were found dead.
The incident was in Ram Meadow car park, in Cotton Lane, Bury St Edmunds, at about 7.30pm.
Crews found the vehicle ‘fully alight’ on arrival, a spokesperson for the fire service said.
The man suffered burns to his face and body and was taken to hospital for treatment.
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: “We were called at 7.38pm yesterday with reports of a person with burns in Cotton Lane, Bury St Edmunds.
“We sent East Anglian Air Ambulance, an ambulance, rapid response vehicle and ambulance officer vehicle.
“We took a man to West Suffolk Hospital by land ambulance for further care.”
Police found two deceased dogs inside the van.
Firefighters used breathing equipment and one hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze.
The incident was dealt with by 8.22pm.
