MasterChef contestant from Bury St Edmunds through to quarter final

A MasterChef contestant from Bury St Edmunds has made it through to tomorrow's quarter final.

Hannah Gregory, 33, won praise from the judges for her culinary efforts in tonight's episode of the hit show as she faced off against five other cooks.

On learning she had made it through, an emotional Hannah said: "I'm feeling obviously unbelievably ecstatic."

For her first dish, Hannah served up three types of fish taco, which impressed hosts Gregg Wallace and John Torode but wasn't enough to send her to the next round immediately.

Instead, she had to compete in the three ingredients test and found success with her Greek inspired Mezze plate.

Gregg Wallace said: "I think what you've done here is nothing short of genius."

She made it through to the final round and cooked a beef fillet with a porcini crust, truffle mashed potatoes and a truffle and mushroom sauce with a toffee apple cake for dessert.

Hannah was one of three to win a place in the quarter final, which airs tomorrow (March 12) at 8pm on BBC One.
