A publican husband and wife team are returning to Bury St Edmunds to run a popular pub.

Adam Neads, 43, and Natalie Southern, 35, will be the new managers at Greene King pub The Fox from August 6. The couple have most recently been running The Baron of Beef in Cambridge, but in previous years the couple ran a number of Bury pubs including The Kings Arms and The Tollgate.

Adam said: “Our dream was to get back to Bury St Edmunds if we could.

"Bury pubs don’t come up very often as a lot of the pub managers have been there for many years and we were really excited when we heard The Fox was available."

Adam and Natalie both met while working behind the bar and later were assistant managers at The Greengage and then The Dog & Partridge before becoming general managers at The Tollgate in 2014.

Adam added: "We met at our first Greene King pub and 15 years later we’ve been married for five years."

The couple left Bury for a few years, first moving to a pub in Cambridge before leaving Greene King and taking on a pub in Buckinghamshire with Marston’s.

However, they’re back in Bury and can’t wait to get started at The Fox pub.

“We want The Fox to be a real part of the local community," he said. "It’s got beautiful rooms, but it can be a bit overlooked because of its position so we want to make sure we put it back on the map."
