Greene King team begin 400-mile cycle ride from Dunbar to Bury St Edmunds to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support




A team of people from Greene King have raised more than £8,500 after setting off on a 400-mile cycle ride from Scotland.

Seven members started their journey yesterday from Greene King’s Belhaven Brewery in Dunbar to the Westgate Brewery in Bury St Edmunds to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The group aims to ride 100 miles a day and finish on Friday.

Members of the team included Peter Wood, Leah Bevan, Jack Palmer, Stuart Lloyd, Sam Mitchell, Richard Farrow and Paul King.

Izzy and Jonathan Aves and Gary Todd are supporting the group as well.

Mr Wood, head of manufacturing at Greene King said: “We would like to thank all of those that have donated to the challenge so far and for our suppliers that have also helped to support us throughout our journey.

“It’s going to be a challenge for sure and we continue to support each other as a team to reach our target every day.

“We are honoured to be raising money for such an important cause, that many of us have felt the impact of in some way and we look forward to seeing familiar faces as we reach the finishing line on Friday.”

The JustGiving fund-raiser has received donations totalling £8,750 so far as it nears towards its target of £10,000.

Since partnering in 2012, Greene King has raised over £19 million for Macmillan as the charity’s top employee fund-raising corporate partner.
