A lane on the A14 near Bury St Edmunds has been closed due to 'severe flooding'.

In a tweet, Highways England said one lane has been closed on the A14 westbound at junction 41 towards junction 40 between Higham and Risby.

A spokesman advised motorists to approach with 'extreme caution'.

Residents across Suffolk have been warned to expect flooding, with heavy rain due to hit the county throughout the day.

Alerts have been issued in low-lying and riverside areas of Suffolk, with flooding 'likely' in these areas.

The Environment Agency said river levels are high and are expected to continue to rise throughout the day.
