A Bury St Edmunds man has warned others to be vigilant after his bike was stolen outside the town's train station 'in broad daylight' yesterday.

Colin Leonard had locked his red and black mountain bike in the designated area outside the station at around 11am before getting a train to Ipswich.

When he returned at around 4pm, his bike was gone.

"It's the sheer audacity of doing it in broad daylight in front of CCTV that gets to me," said Colin.

A witness to the incident reportedly told Colin that he had seen a man with bolt cutters steal the bike, while station staff told him it was the second incident of its kind in a week.

"It's obviously not an opportunist and it's happened before," said Colin.

"I just don't want it to happen to someone else so wanted to make people aware."

Witnesses are asked to call Suffolk Police on 101 quoting CAD number 319 of February 18.
