Mum arrives at RAF Honington on five-month charity walk
The mother of an RAF Regiment gunner arrived at RAF Honington yesterday on a five-month long sponsored walk around every active RAF base in the country.
Emma Marianne, 41, of Huddersfield, began her journey with ‘Walk for Wings’ on June 1 in Cornwall.
She was met at RAF Honington by station and RAF Association members, and Officer Commanding Training Wing, Wing Commander Guy Wood, who originally met her at the end of June when her son graduated in to the RAF Regiment.
He has since been posted to RAF Lossiemouth, where Emma will end her 2000 mile journey sometime in November.
The walk is in aid of the RAF Association and Emma aims to raise funds and awareness of the organisation.
Emma said: “As a single RAF mum, the RAF Association has become increasingly important to me. The work they do is so exceptional and I want to help them continue the care of our service men and women, past and present."
She is following a pre-planned route across the UK to cover all 29 Stations from Cornwall to Scotland.
Emma is camping for the most part but at Honington she was provided with more comfortable accommodation.
She will left Honington today to continue on to RAF Marham.
