Natasha from Stowmarket all set for Atlantic Beauty Pageant in memory of her grandad
An admin worker is hoping to raise money for a mental health charity in memory of her grandad.
Natasha Streatfield has entered the Atlantic Beauty Pageant which this year will be held ‘virtually’, in April.
The national competition, in which she will compete against seven others for the title of ‘Mrs Suffolk Atlantic’ round, also raises money for the charity, Mind.
In July 2019, lost her grandad, John, to Alzheimers and has been raising money ever since.
The 35-year-old has already raised more than £500 for mental health charities and is hoping to top that up with the beauty contest.
“I’d always had an interest in pageants and when my grandad died, I just thought: blow it, I’ll enter one,” said Natasha, who grew up in Thurston, and lives in Stowmarket.
“I entered the Miss Galaxy Pageant last year which was held in Lancashire, just before lockdown - and though I didn’t get in the final three, I loved it.
“I chose the Atlantic Beauty Pageant this year because it raises money for Mind.
Because it is virtual, I have to send photos in different outfits including casual, evening wear and swimwear, and also provide videos.
"I think I will use a local hall to film them.
“There will also be Zoom interviews with the contestants and I am really looking forward to it.”
Natasha's grandad, John, was 86 when he died from Alzheimers after a ‘long hard battle’.
Natasha, who works at Stowlangtoft Hall nursing home in Stowlangtoft, has also been raising money for the Alzheimer's Society with a series of events including making cup cakes and a sponsored jog.
“I am just trying to raise as much as I can for these great charities,” she said.
When I think of grandad, I well up. I was always his little Princess and he would be so proud I have entered.
