Wickes is set to open its new Bury St Edmunds store next month

The opening date of a new DIY shop in Bury St Edmunds has been announced.

Wickes, which has taken on the former Homebase store on St Edmundsbury Retail Park, in Easlea Road, is set to open on July 4, according to the national retailer’s website.

Works on converting the unit have been under way since Homebase fell into administration and closed at the end of February.

Plans for replacement signage were approved by West Suffolk Council last month.

Wickes is currently recruiting for various roles at the new outlet.
