New road opens at Suffolk Park

The new main estate road at Suffolk Park Bury St Edmunds was officially opened this week.

The road which along with water, electricity, gas, drainage and telecoms services and landscaping makes way for work to start on two major units totalling 350,000 sq ft.

The road contract was undertaken by Jackson Civils with the landscaping being carried out by Aspect Landscape to designs by Indigo Landscape Architects.

The landscaping includes 500 trees, 1.25 miles of hedge, 500 saplings and22,000 route shrubs.

Cllr John Griffiths, leader of St Esdmundsbury Borough Council, said: " I am delighted that St Edmundsbury has been able to support this key part of the development at Suffolk Park, a new road and landscaping which in time will serve both the expandsion of existing successful businesses and help attract new ones to this wonderful part of West Suffolk.

Power tool company Festool, currently operating from Saxham Business Park, will be moving to its new site at Suffolk Business Park.

Construction specialist Mick George Ltd will be carrying out associated earthworks on behalf of MJS Construction (March) Ltd.

These will make way for Festool's new headquarters and warehouse premises at the new business park to the east of Bury St Edmunds.

The new park is aimed to open up prime commercial premises for the region with 57 acres of strategic employment land.

The Suffolk Business Park consists in total of 114 acres providing 50,000 to 750,000 sq ft of business, distribution and industrial units.

New infrastructure has been provided including the new Eastern Relief Road which will provide easy access to the new commercial offer on the outskirts of Bury.

Treatt PLC has already acquired 10 acres in order to bring its business under one purpose built roof and has received planning permission for its scheme.

Mick George Ltd has recently acquired 14 new sites in the Eastern region as it strengthens its contracting operation.

Michael George, contracts director said: "It is pleasing that we are starting to gain traction for our services since the recent investment to expand geographically. We see no reason why this will not continue in the same manner as long s we endeavour to produce the same high-standards as we do elsewhere in the country"
