New picture book Suffolk Above & Beyond by Martin Bowman places focus on the beauty of county

Think of Suffolk and what springs to mind?

Is it the home of horse racing at Newmarket? The medieval splendour of Bury St Edmunds? Perhaps the county's most beautiful wool towns of Lavenham or Kersey? Or how about the rich maritime history of Ipswich?

Wherever you look, there is a sight or view to please everyone and that's why so many of us count ourselves lucky to consider this corner of the UK our home.

Author and photographer Martin Bowman takes us on a journey across the length and breadth of Suffolk in his new book, Suffolk Above & Beyond.

Martin's journey takes the reader through Suffolk's county town, on to Constable Country and the lovely Wool Towns. Sudbury and the Stour Valley comes into particular focus, as does the Waveney Valley Westwards.

There are further sections on the Heart of Suffolk, The Brecks, Bury and Beyond and Coastal Waters.

There are a couple of shots which made me stop and stare more than the others - although it's a book I keep going back to and finding something new each time. But the shot of sunset over the Georgian village of Walberswick is beautiful as is the picture of Bawdsey Manor at the mouth of the Deben.

But the standout picture for me was the panoramic view of Bury St Edmunds which stretches for miles and miles and had me squinting at the page trying to pinpoint areas I know. Breathtaking indeed.
