New plans for Stowmarket drive-thru KFC submitted to Mid Suffolk District Council

Amended plans for a new drive-thru restaurant in Stowmarket are being considered by Mid Suffolk District Council.

KFC already has permission to build its new restaurant on south of Gun Cotton Way and Thorney Way, near the existing McDonalds and Costa outlets.

Last year, the district council granted planning permission for two drive-thru units, an electric charging kiosk with circulatory routes, associated car parking, servicing and landscaping.

Now, the applicant is seeking approval for variation of conditions related to the approved drawings and parking/electric vehicle charging due to amended layouts.

A letter submitted to planners said some changes were needed to accommodate KFC's national branding model, with the changes including:

- Road widened to seven metres opposite new car parking

- Rearrangement of bays to align with a walkway from the coffee shop

- Removal of parking to accommodate a better footpath
