Nicola to take centre stage hosting Nigella
A Bury Free Press columnist and food writer is to interview Nigella Lawson on stage as part of the celebrity cook’s new tour.
Nicola Miller was asked do the show with the multi-award winning writer at the Cambridge Corn Exchange.
She said: “After an 11-hour flight I got an email with the request but misread it as a press interview instead of on stage and agreed to do it.
“Looking at it later I realised what it said and had to put my head between my knees to stop myself fainting.”
Nicola is delighted to interview a woman she described as a celebrity on ‘a Michael Parkinson interview level’. The pair have followed each other on Twitter for a year-and-a-half, with Nigella sharing Nicola’s columns and Nicola saying she has been a fan since Nigella started writing for Vogue.
An Evening with Nigella Lawson will look at the 20th anniversary of her debut book – How To Eat: The Pleasures and Principles of Good Food – and Nicola wants to explore Nigella’s feelings about it now and if it still applies to her life two decades on.
She said: “It is the nuts and bolts of the book, too –writing it whilst balancing the demands of a career and two small children, how did Nigella manage to develop the book?”
The columnist has Nigella’s 11 cookbooks in her vast collection, buying second copies of some due to over use.
Nicola said: “How To Eat was a game changer, imparting culinary know-how in a supportive manner, as opposed to the tone of stern domestic science teachers which characterised a lot of other cookbooks of the time.”
An Evening with Nigella Lawson is at Cambridge Corn Exchange on November 7 at 7.30pm. For tickets, go to www.cambridgelivetrust.co.uk/cornex
