Nine Easter egg hunts and trails in Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket and Ipswich




From egg hunts to special craft sessions, we've found nine activities across Suffolk for families to enjoy this Easter.

Easter egg hunt at Ickworth Estate

The National Trust are inviting children to join in with an Easter egg hunt and nature trail around the Ickworth Estate near Bury St Edmunds.

The trail, which is running until April 16, costs £3 per child and starts at the estate's welcome point.

Children taking part will each receive a trail map, pencil and chocolate egg at the end.

Normal admission fees, £12 for adults and £6 for children, still apply - National Trust members get in for free.

Explore a new nature trail at Needham Lake

Launched at the end of March, the new Needham Lake Nature Trail is up and running and ready for families to explore.

There are eight posts around the lake, which will all help children complete the free trail.

You can pick up a map from The Duck and Teapot cafe, or take part using the Love Exploring app.

Some Bunny Cares - Easter egg hunt - Bury St Edmunds

The arc shopping centre in Bury St Edmunds is inviting families in the town to an Easter egg hunt supporting the Gatehouse charity.

On Easter Monday, April 10, children will get to hunt for clues in shop and restaurant windows - which they will need to use to work out a mystery word.

Once all the clues have been found those taking part will need to head to Charter Square and spin a wheel, winning a prize for either themselves or the Gatehouse Foodbank.

Easter baking and trail at the Food Museum - Stowmarket

The Food Museum in Stowmarket has an Easter trail running around the farm until April 16.

There will be a family Easter baking session in the bread oven each day between 10.30am - 11.30am and between 2pm -3pm.

This Easter children will also get the chance to meet newborn lambs in the farm barn at 11.30am and 3pm.

Cross festival - Stowmarket Parish Church

Staying in Stowmarket, families are invited to visit the new Cross Festival inside the parish church.

The church, which is famous for its Christmas Tree Festival is displaying an array of crosses, made from an array of materials, even a motor bike exhaust.

If you are looking to visit the Cross Festival, you can see when the church will be open for visitors here.

Entry to the festival is free and refreshments are available to buy from the Osier Café.

There is also a small children's area to keep toddlers entertained.

Where's Wooly Easter Trail - Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich

Visit Christchurch Mansion in Ipswich this Easter and help Wooly the mammoth find hidden plants and flowers.

The trail, costing £5, is suitable for children aged over three and there is no need to book in advance.

To take part all you need to do is head to the Christchurch Mansion gift shop.

Whilst at the mansion you may want to take a look at the Landscape Rebels exhibition which closes on April 16.

Landscape Rebels explores how human impacts, including the climate crisis, are changing the landscape.

Flower power workshops - Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich

Taking inspiration from the Landscape Rebels exhibition, there will be a free, flower power recycling plant workshop at Christchurch Mansion on April 11 and April 12.

During the workshop children will get to meet artist Nicola Burrell, who will help them transform 2D cardboard into a 3D flower sculpture.

They will also be given seeds to plant at home.

The interactive sessions are suitable for children aged five and over and can be booked by the Ipswich Theatre's website.

Join in with an Easter hunt around Bury St Edmunds

Our Bury St Edmunds is currently running an augmented reality Easter hunt around the town.

The hunt will run until April 16 and is billed at being a great way to discover new streets and businesses across the town centre.

You can join in with the hunt using the LoyalFree App and there are three prizes of a £50 Bury Edmunds gift cards up for grabs.

Easter activities at Suffolk's Libraries

Across Suffolk, libraries have a wide range of activities lined-up for all ages this Easter.

This year Blank Page workshops have been launched for those aged 11 - 16.

Blank Page is described as 'an exciting new programme' providing 'free high-quality activities' run by local artists.

On Saturday, April 8, Chantry Library in Ipswich are running an Easter egg hunt between 10am -12pm

The egg hunt costs £1 per child and there will also be crafts for children to get stuck into.
