Norton war memorial damaged in police car incident

Norton war memorial was damaged when a police car crashed into it on Friday.

The incident, at 1.10pm, happened when a police car responding to a call with blue lights flashing was involved in a collision with a Mini Clubman in Ixworth Road.

Minor damage was also caused to a stationary Audi A6.

East of England Ambulance Service was called – the driver of the Mini Clubman is believed to have sustained a wrist injury and the police officers suffered minor bruising.

A Suffolk Police spokesman said an investigation into the collision would take place.
