A Tuddenham pub has made it onto national television after being chosen to star in an advertisement for Greene King.

The White Hart was picked from pubs across the country to feature in ads for the brewer’s To The Pub campaign, encouraging people to use their local watering hole.

Filming took place at the pub in August, with the advert airing on ITV, Sky Sports, BT Sport and Sky Atlantic earlier this month.

Paul Casson, who runs the free house in High Street with wife Rebecca, said: “We were put forward as one of 100 pubs in the country to take part.

“We are a free house, but Greene King were looking for a traditional country pub. The production company were very interested in us.

“We asked them to come when we were having a charity day for Macmillan. We were due to have a cricket match but it was turned into a darts match because of the waether.

“It enabled us to have all the locals in the pub to join us for the filming, which was nice.”

Launched in September, the To The Pub campaign is an initiative by Greene King, who own pub brands including Old English Inns, Eating Inns and Hungry Horse.

It aims to celebrate great British pubs and applaud those with individual spirits and communities, while encouraging people back into their local boozers.

When they took over the White Hart five years ago, both Paul and Rebecca were new to the pub trade, but have worked to retain its traditional character.

Of its appeal, Paul said: “It is purely an individual community pub which fell into all of the production company’s criteria.

“The campaign encourages people to go out and enjoy a regular pub, There are no frills here, we are just an old fashioned pub.”
