Bury St Edmunds opticians Peel and Gudgin display Christmas effigy for visitors' pleasure

Peel and Gudgin Opticians on Angel Hill is exhibiting a humorous Christmas effigy modelled after one of its members of staff.

It was designed by Sharon Kulesa, a receptionist at Peel and Gudgin's Stowmarket practice, and depicts optician Chris Wilbraham.

Mr Wilbraham said of Mrs Kulesa: “She’s a part-time receptionist, and, the rest of the time, she’s painting Christmas cards and all sorts of other things – she’s very talented.”

Mr Wilbraham said the effigy was created as a festive surprise.

Mrs Kulesa has previously built similar figures in the guise of Boris Johnson and Queen Elizabeth II.

“Sharon just made this thing of me as Santa’s Little Helper. It’s gone on the window of our practice.”
