Plans approved for Linden Tree, in Bury St Edmunds, include outdoor bar and pergola area
An outdoor bar and pergola area is to be built at a Bury St Edmunds pub.
Greene King has gained permission for a number of changes at The Linden Tree, in Out Northgate.
Plans submitted to West Suffolk Council included the installation of bi-fold doors to a conservatory and two disabled access ramps.
The brewery wants to install an outdoor bar and pergola made from timber in the pub’s garden.
There was also a proposal to create an accessible toilet by using a small area of the kitchen.
A design and access statement said the pub had a large garden but it was inefficiently set out, suffered from severe access issues and was in need of investment.
It said: “At present the only access to the garden is via steps which excludes wheelchair users and limits access by others with limited mobility and customers with buggies.
“The new access ramps would significantly improve access to the garden for all customers and the pergola and bar would improve the appearance and function of the pub garden.”
