A father has said his daughter is 'heartbroken' after their cat was stolen in Bury St Edmunds.

Nemo, a 20-year-old tabby cat, went missing from his home in Mustow Street on Saturday afternoon after reports of a woman and man taking him from the doorstep.

Andrew Christopher said his daughter Caitlan, 10, had been crying herself to sleep since Nemo went missing.

"I'm just losing all hope I'm not going to lie," he said.

"She's (Caitlan) used to Nemo being on her pillow and she's crying herself to sleep at night and it's killing me.

"Its just seeing your little girl heartbroken."

Andrew said him and his family have been posting all over social media trying to track Nemo, but so far he has not returned home.

He said Nemo is a popular and well-known cat in Mustow Street, and also has a nick in his ear.

"Someone has to know something," he said.

A police spokesperson said they received reports yesterday morning of a cat being stolen.

They said the incident was reported to have been on Saturday afternoon in which a woman described as wearing a mustard coloured jacket and a man described as being very tall with a black thick coat on stole Nemo.

Anyone with information relating to the incident is asked to contact police quoting CAD128 of 13 April 2021.
