Pair arrested after thefts in Heath Road, Thurston, near Bury St Edmunds
Two people have been arrested – with one charged – after burglaries in a village earlier this week.
James Smith, 40, of Cook Mews, Thurston, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court yesterday accused of two counts of burglary.
This followed thefts from two houses in Heath Road, where various items, including a pillow case, a jewellery box and alcohol, were taken.
The thefts took place between Sunday and Monday, with Smith arrested on Tuesday.
A second suspect, a woman in her 30s, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of burglary.
Following his hearing, Smith was remanded in custody before a hearing in Cambridge Crown Court on November 5.
The woman has been bailed and will return to police on January 6.
A spokesperson for Suffolk Police said more than 150 items were seized by officers.
