Permission granted for new storage structure at Howarth Timber & Building Supplies site in Bury St Edmunds
Permission has been granted for a new storage structure at the site of a building materials supplier in a town.
West Suffolk Council has approved the application from Howarth Timber & Building Supplies for the erection of an ancillary storage building at their site in Hollow Road, Bury St Edmunds.
The proposed development will enable the employment of five additional members of staff, with 60 full-time employees currently working at the site.
The building would be anchored to an existing area of hardstanding which is an underutilised yard area.
A planning statement said Howarth Timber & Building Supplies has identified a clear and urgent need for additional internal storage space.
The building will be constructed from an aluminium frame clad with grey steel sandwich wall panels and an off-white inflatable PVC roof.
It will predominantly store timber, medium density fibreboard and internal doors.
The application was approved last week by the district council following approval by Bury St Edmunds Town Council.
