Plans for new Blue Bear self storage yard at Van Master site, in Barton Road, Bury St Edmunds, approved by West Suffolk Council despite concerns from Bury Town Council




Plans to create a new self storage yard in a town have been approved despite objections from a council.

West Suffolk Council approved the proposals for the conversion of the Van Master, in Barton Road, Bury St Edmunds, to a Blue Bear storage yard, today.

Bury Town Council has twice recommended the plans for refusal.

In June, it raised concerns over the design and appearance of the project, inappropriate development in a retail area and the potential for increase traffic generation.

Then, in August, after some amendments to the plans, it repeated its recommendation of refusal on the same grounds.

The yard would be accessible from 6am to 8pm seven days a week, and have 24-hour CCTV.

Security fencing around the yard’s perimeter would be 2.4 metres high and would be accessed via a two metre high sliding security gate.

There are no third party objections to the proposals a
