Plastic-free activists bring campaign to shoppers at Tesco in Bury St Edmunds
Volunteers from Plastic-Free Bury St Edmunds recently attended the town's Tesco branch to raise awareness of plastic waste
The campaigners are encouraging the public to return plastic waste to shops for recycling, and are urging businesses to take action to limit waste.
On Thursday morning, activists set up a stall outside Tesco, engaging directly with shoppers as they came and went.
Throwaway plastic packaging is a major source of waste in the UK and across the world.
The event's volunteer coordinator, Philip Broadbent Yale, said: "We need people to return soft plastic wrapping to the supermarkets so it can be recycled.
"But, more importantly, if we wish to protect the environment we have to make a change and stop using plastic wrapping in the first place."
