Suffolk News podcast: Mark Cordell, chief executive of Bury St Edmunds' Business Improvement District calls on customers to 'give staff a chance' in the wake of coronavirus




In today's podcast, we have the news the boss of a Suffolk town's business support organisation has appealed for the public ‘to give staff a chance.’

Mark Cordell, chief executive of Bury St Edmunds Business Improvement District (BID), says he has heard increasing reports of customers giving staff at town centre businesses ‘a hard time’ despite the challenges they have faced in the wake of coronavirus.

Crews were called earlier today after a fire broke out in the day centre of a care home in Mildenhall.

The fire was located in the day centre at the back of the Mildenhall Lodge Care Home.

No injuries were reported.

A man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous and drink driving as well as possession of a class A drug after a car crashed into a house in Bury St Edmunds.

Emergency services attended a two vehicle collision in Cullum Road in the early hours of Saturday, with police alerted at 12.47am.

A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol and possession of a class A drug following the incident and was taken in for questioning.

He was subsequently released under investigation pending further inquiries.

And, in good news, a pretty 15th century thatched cottage is on the market for £875,000.

The Grade II listed property, Roundwood House, can be found in Windsor Green, in Cockfield near Bury St Edmunds, and sits on a half-acre of grounds.
