Suffolk News Podcast: Man charged with attempted murder to appear at Suffolk Magistrates' Court following axe attack in Clare
In today's podcast we have news a man charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon will appear in crown court next month following an axe attack in Clare over the weekend.
David Perry, 39, of St Margarets Place in Stradishall, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court today following his arrest on Sunday.
The charges relate to an incident on Saturday evening at The Bell Hotel on Market Hill in Clare.
Police were called to the pub at around 8.15pm following reports a man had attacked a person with an axe.
The victim, a man aged in his 30s, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge having suffered a serious head injury.
He remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Next, drivers on the A14 between junction 37 and 36 faced long delays this morning as standstill traffic built up.
This came after a lorry had broken down in the westbound carriageway near Newmarket, causing lane one of three to be closed.
A National Highways spokesperson said there were delays of 45 minutes above the typical journey time and at 8am the tailback was 6 miles long.
At 9.40am, National Highways announced the broken down lorry had been removed and said traffic would ease.
Also, a Bury St Edmunds man has been charged after a woman was filmed in a hospital toilet before someone demanded £1,000 from her on social media.
Piotr Prasalek, 34, of Pemberton Walk, has been charged with making an unwarranted demand with menaces and a second charge of recording a person conducting a private act with the intention of obtaining sexual gratification.
It follows an incident on March 11 where a female victim was filmed in a toilet at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury.
The victim later received a demand on social media to make a payment of £1,000 to an individual.
And finally, an adventure bar featuring axe-throwing and mini golf is set to open at the end of next month.
Boom Battle Bar was granted a licence to replace the vacant Coast to Coast premise in Buttermarket, Ipswich, at the end of last year.
The new bar will create up to 50 jobs, and is the latest facility the chain is opening, with a similar site already open in Norwich.
