SuffolkNews Podcast: David Perry found guilty of attempted murder after plunging axe into man's skull at The Bell Hotel in Clare
On today's podcast, a man who plunged an axe into a pubgoer’s skull will serve a 24-year jail sentence for attempted murder.
David Perry, 39, from St Margaret's Place in Stradishall, was sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court today after he was found guilty of attempted murder.
The courtroom saw CCTV footage of Perry, a landscape gardener, knocking Matthew Cutts to the ground at The Bell Hotel in Clare with an axe designed to cut through branch roots.

Also, nearly a year after a double stabbing in Bury St Edmunds, police have said a 39-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of murder, remains under investigation.
The probe continues into the fatal stabbing of Karl Skoulding at Harland Court, on Station Hill, on April 26 last year.
The 43-year-old and a woman were found in a flat with stab wounds and he was declared dead shortly after police arrived.

And finally, calls have been made for drivers to be extra vigilant and for new signage to be installed after ducks were reportedly knocked over and killed on a Bury St Edmunds estate.
In recent weeks it is believed at least three ducks have died in the area of Symonds Road, Moreton Hall near the pub and pond and other community amenities.
Now with ducklings starting to hatch, the appeal for drivers to look out for the ducks and to slow down is even more urgent.

And two lanes on the A14 remain closed more than 24 hours after a crash.
This was because a lorry crashed into the central reservation.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk Highways said the lanes are due to reopen tomorrow.
