SuffolkNews Podcast: A14 outside Newmarket four-vehicle collision followed by bus breaking down incident

Up first, an incident at 7.47am outside a Suffolk town on the A14 saw a four-vehicle collision take place and a vehicle was towed away.

One person was treated in an ambulance after sustaining minor injuries on the major route heading westbound just outside Newmarket.

Shortly after this, a bus heading eastbound then broke down, but no injuries were reported.

Next, questions have been raised over the future of a Bury St Edmunds pub that has been closed for three years which was put up for sale.

Greene King had planned to revamp The Greyhound, in Eastgate Street, which shut in 2019, with a new operator.

However, the brewer was unable to find anyone and placed the pub dating back to at least 1841, on the market.

Also, highways workers have been alerted to multiple incidents of fallen trees and flooding across the county following the stormy weather.

Suffolk Highways has urged motorists to take care and avoid driving through flood water.

In a tweet, a spokesman said: "We are attending a number of fallen trees and areas of surface water flooding around the county. Please take care and avoid driving through flood water where possible - it is always safer to find an alternative route."

And finally, a newly-recruited ambulance care assistant was given a surprising test with an unusual initiation during his first official week on the job.

Joshua Hender, care assistant at E-zec Medical, was posed with the difficult task of assisting a mother in the very final stages of labour in Ipswich Hospital's car park, having only been in the job for a matter of days.

Mr Hender said: “It certainly was a very exciting first Friday shift, and a day I’ll never forget.”
