SuffolkNews podcast: Suffolk transgender activists share their stories in the fight for equality

In today's podcast, we spoke to reporter Tamika Green who has been chatting to two Suffolk transgender activists about their personal journeys.

We caught up with her to discuss how the idea for the story came about, what she learnt, and a bit more about the two activists themselves.

A serving Suffolk police officer has appeared in court charged with a misconduct in public office offence.

Ryan Althorpe, of Ipswich, was summonsed to appear before Norwich Magistrates Court today to face the charge, which relates to a woman who had reported being the victim of an alleged crime.

Althorpe, 30, is a temporary sergeant and currently suspended pending the outcome of the legal proceedings.

And last, a former Bury Town Football Club groundsman is marking his 80th birthday by running the same route he has taken every day for the last five years.

Charlie Knight, 79, of Parkway, Bury, is celebrating his 80th birthday on June 11 by running the 2.5mile route from Bury Fire Station.

He said it would be 'marvellous' if as many people as possible made the trip down to support him.
