Two teenagers arrested after report of serious sexual assault on young woman in Bury St Edmunds




Two teenagers have been arrested following a report of a serious sexual assault on a young woman in Bury St Edmunds.

The alleged incident was at about 1am today in Winthrop Road.

An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy have been arrested and were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where they remain for questioning.

The victim and the suspects are understood to be known to each other.

A Suffolk Police spokesman said: "Officers are treating this as an isolated incident and are not looking for anyone else in connection with it."

A cordon is in place on a footpath between Winthrop Road and Constable Road.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the West Safeguarding Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference 31939/21.
